EMADLANGENI MUNICIPALITY HOSTED A SUCCESSFUL MAYORAL IMBIZO.
eMadlangeni Municipality hosted it’s first Mayoral Imbizo with the new council at Bensdorp Sports field. The purpose of the Imbizo was for the Mayor to introduce the full council to the community, engage with public, and also table down the council’s goals for the next five years with the aim of providing adequate services to the people of Emadlangeni.
Cllr Buthelezi further outlined the plans that the Municipality will be rolling out with the assistance of the Department Mineral Resources and Energy to install 522 household solar systems in all wards. The program is scheduled to begin on Monday in Ndlamlenze. This project will benefit the rural areas surrounding the Emadlangeni Municipality as most areas have previously not been electrified and this system, though temporary, will ensure that citizens will have access to electricity which is a fundamental right.
Cllr Buthelezi also discussed plans of prioritizing local business and committed that during this term the municipality will now work closely with local businesses as opposed to utilising contractor and service providers from outside of the municipal area. He emphasized that he will work closely with young people and ensure that women empowerment is a priority. He touched on the development of people with disabilities and providing the necessary support.
The Mayor emphasized that there needs to be cohesion between the farmers and the dwellers in order to draw stability in those areas where there are still high tensions. The tourism factor was also discussed at length as Utrecht town is considered as an economic hub due the Balele Game Park which will be refurbished in order to draw more publicity to the town and attract tourists which will generate more revenue for the municipality.
