THE MOOD WAS JOVIAL IN BLUE MOUNTAIN AND EMADLANGENI WHEN EMADLANGENI LOCAL MUNICIPALITY WAS INTRODUCING CONTRACTORS THAT WILL UNDERTAKE AN ELECTRIFICATION PROJECT IN THESE AREAS:
Emadlangeni Municipality Mayor ML Buthelezi yesterday was warmly welcomed by the community of Blue Mountain and Emadlangeni as he announced that 115 households will be electrified in the area.
The Mayor accompanied by the Municipal Speaker PX Qwabe, Deputy Mayor PF Chongo and Ward 5 councillor SM Khoza introduced a contractor that has been appointed by the municipality that will electrify both areas and bring back dignity to the people’s lives, after years of living with in the dark. This will change people’s lives and their livelihood.
Mayor Buthelezi couldn’t hold his excitement about the fact that people will now benefit from government services and how electricity change people’s lives in the community. He stated that the project will also bring employment opportunities to the local community as there will be 36 people from each ward that will be employed in various positions such as General Workers, Community Liaison Officers and Security Officers.
The inception of the project will be 5 June 2023 and it is expected to be rolled out and running on the 24 June 2023, the municipality has set a target with the contractor that they are given at least one year to complete the project thereafter people should have electricity.
Council Speaker , PX Qwabe assured the community that this is the last winter they will experience without electricity.
The Mayor and Councillors then proceeded to conduct a sod-turning in both ward to officially open the project.
