In line with our ongoing commitment to ensuring road safety, the Emadlangeni Local Municipality Public Safety and Traffic Department recently conducted a successful roadblock on the R34 as part of our broader Road Safety Campaign. The operation forms part of our Arrive Alive initiative, aimed at promoting safe travel as many people embark on their journeys home and to various holiday destinations this festive season.
Our officers were stationed at key points along the R34, conducting vehicle checks and offering road safety tips to ensure drivers adhere to traffic regulations. The goal of this operation is to reduce road accidents and fatalities by encouraging responsible driving, vehicle maintenance, and ensuring that all road users are aware of the importance of arriving alive.
Speaking on the matter, Emadlangeni Mayor, ML Buthelezi, emphasized the critical importance of road safety, saying:
“We urge all drivers to refrain from texting and driving, as well as drinking while driving. These behaviors put everyone at risk. Let’s make responsible choices and ensure that we all return home safely this holiday season.”
