The Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) has made a significant contribution toward improving water security in eMadlangeni Municipality. The department has officially handed over critical water-supply resources, including a 9,000-litre rotational water tank, a 2,000-litre strike unit donated by the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) through COGTA, a veld fire truck, and three fully equipped boreholes.

These interventions aim to address the ongoing water challenges faced by communities across eMadlangeni. For many years, the municipality has relied on the district office to provide water services to all wards. The donation and installation of these new resources will strengthen the municipality’s capacity to deliver water more efficiently and enhance emergency response efforts, particularly in remote areas.

Speaking at the handover, officials emphasized that the investment demonstrates government’s continued commitment to ensuring reliable access to water, improving service delivery, and supporting municipalities to become more self-sufficient.

The Mayor of eMadlangeni, His Worship Cllr M.L. Buthelezi, encouraged residents to work with the municipality to safeguard the new infrastructure and use it responsibly to ensure long-term sustainability.
