The Mayor of Emadlangeni Municipality Cllr ML Buthelezi conducted a ceremonial elecricity switching on for 162 households in Wit Mfolozi (Ward 6). The electrification project started in 2014 and was halted due to numerous delays. The new administration resolved to complete all outstanding projects and Wit Mfolozi was identified as one of the projects to be completed.
Mayor Buthelezi was elated that after almost 8 years, the project has been completed and this has brought dignity to the community of Wit Mfolozi.
In his address, the Mayor encouraged residents to be responsible and utilize electricity wisely. He urged residents not to fall into the trap of bypassing meters as this will have severe consequences. The Mayor emphasized that while there are major challenges that the municipality is facing due to finances, every effort will be made to steer the ship until we reach the promised land.
An elderly member of the the Community, Gogo Mthethwa was overjoyed when the lights were switched on as she has never experienced the convenience of having electricity in her home since she was born.
